A Day Off (Hallelujah)

Thanks, George.

Happy Presidents’ Day! Today, we (Americans) celebrate George Washington’s birthday and honor all past presidents. And like good patriotic Americans, our little family plans on spending the whole day thinking about them. At Costco. And on the couch.

Given the somewhat political nature of the holiday, today is just asking for a 1500-word political rant from yours truly. But I know better than to incite anger and tears of boredom. Actually, I don’t know better, but Joanna does. And thus, no politics for el blogo.

As Joanna said on Friday, we’re still figuring out how to juggle baby/work/life/breathing. But lucky for us, George Washington was a righteous dude and gifted us a day off to catch our breath. Ahhhhhhh.

Speaking of resting, Joanna and I have decided to give our typing fingers a break a few times a month by doing some video entries. We’ve gotten a handful of questions over the month, and sometimes email responses just don’t cut it. And we always like to criticize and make fun of our awkwardness on video. With that being said, these videos can go down one of two ways:

1. We answer questions and chat about certain topics. Examples might include:

  • How do you guys tag team your finances? Who does what?
  • What’s your greatest budget category weakness?
  • Gun to your head: Full House or Boy Meets World?

2. We don’t answer questions and we stare at the video camera for five minutes in a rousing staring contest challenge. This actually doesn’t sound like a half bad idea, so it’s totally cool if this ends up being what happens.

So what’ll it be? If you’re digging option one, you can pass your question or topic along as a comment OR send it to us over here. If you’re digging option two, just sit there and prepare for the duel of your LIFE.

I’ll be interested to see your video entries, I have considered doing a one, but I haven’t worked out exactly what I would talk about yet.

Oooh, vlogging is fun. Looking forward to seeing it.

My question: What do you do with a windfall? If one of you gets an unexpected bonus or a family member gives you $200, etc?

I wish I had today off! I’m slowly getting ready right now haha

If I gave you $50 and you had to spend it – not save it or use it for bills – what would you buy?

I already said my Thank You to George Washington as I have a lazy morning in bed with my computer. =)

Maybe I’m weird, but I don’t really like vlogs. But gun to my head – Full House. They’re not even in the same league.

Sadly, we don’t get the day off today. But, then again, we just might to decide to take a different day off some time this week. 🙂

Here in Ontario Canada, we also get today off – we call it Family Day (however, now being retired, every day is “family day” for yours truly – lol).

As to your video strategy, I’m ambidextrous 🙂
    I like Option #1 – Finance Tag Team strategy and/or Option #2 – we’ll see who blinks first! 🙂

I just did a vlog today, but it’s neither of those options. I vote for #2! 🙂 Just because I’m sure it would be funny.

THIS -> Gun to your head: Full House or Boy Meets World?

Also, I used to blog about politics so I would have enjoyed a political rant. Then again, things turn political VERY quick, such as when I write about health care reform and health insurance (one of my favorite PF topics). The comments get heated quick, understandably so.

I wish I had the day off! Enjoy! PS love the blog!

I wish I had a day off today. My vote would be for a discussion of who handles what aspects of your finances – and how you determined that.

How do I get my name to show up as a link to my blog?

I don’t think I have ever had this day off. Congrats on being able to enjoy time together with the little one.

I have been thinking about doing some video entries, but just haven’t found the time. I would love to see what you two crazy people come up with. Let’s see the gun to the head series. That should be comical.

By the way, Boy meets world over Full House any day.

    My vote: Staring contest.

The only good thing about Full House is trying to figure out which Olsen twin is busy becoming a multi-millionaire in which scene.

Levar Burton never appeared on Full House or Boy Meets World but he did have guest starring roles on The Love Boat, Murder She Wrote and Fantasy Island.

Yay for dead prez holidayz. Would love to see some vlogging going on.

Also, Full House….what little girl didn’t have a crush on John Stamos?

I have always been amazed at how well you and Joanna sync your efforts with this blog. I’ve never seen a tag team duo let alone couple do it so well. If you could speak to how you guys develop content, market your blog, and network with other bloggers I would really appreciate it. Additionally as a bonus question if you could give me your secret of how you maintain such an awesome blog, full time job, and newborn baby without folding under pressure I’d appreciate it. Our son is due mid March and I’m curious to what the transition is going to be like.
