A Trip to NYC

NYC Getaway

We’re back from NYC, and it was a fantastic trip! I explored each day while Johnny worked, and then each night we walked miles and miles just soaking up the hustle and bustle of the city. Our hotel was in Chinatown, and when we stepped out onto the street each day, the scene looked a bit like this:

Every day, I either jogged or walked around the city, and I always ended up in Central Park. I guess I’m not a city girl at heart if my favorite place in all of New York is the one and only place with no buildings!

Of course, my favorite time was when Johnny and I were out and about together.

One of our must-have meals was lamb over rice from The Halal Guys. So delish. And the going rate of $6 makes us love it even more.

Wednesday was Johnny’s birthday, so I met him in his office to try to convince him to get off work a little early. As soon as I started taking pictures, he tried to banish me from his office. But I convinced him to leave with me.Johnny

We ended up meeting some friends in Central Park, where I splurged on Sprinkles cupcakes to celebrate the birthday boy.

It was great to shrug off parenthood for a few days and spend some time together in a city we used to call home! We loved every second. But when it came time to see our Sally girl again, we were both so excited. Based on this video, though, I think she was doing just fine without us. Too bad, Sal!

Hope you all had a great Father’s Day weekend! We’ve got some fun financial topics we’ll be discussing later this week so stay tuned!

I love NYC – the constant flow of pedestrians on the sidewalks, even the honking of the horns, but my favorite place is Central Park. It’s the calm within the storm. Whenever I visit I have to go there (though this past winter I actually didn’t, but that was because it was frigin’ freezing!) Looks like you two had a great time!

I loved being a part of the energy of the city again for a few days! But living there would have been impossible without Central Park! I’ll always have a special place in my heart for it :).

Looks like a fun trip! I can totally relate to getting back to the kiddo. They are always in the back of your mind, even if they are apparently just fine with the sitter. 🙂

Yes! I felt like a part of me was missing! But I’m so glad I went through with it… I think it was good for me and her!

Dave and I went to New York once but only had eight hours there. We didn’t even get to central park!

Dang! It sounds like a return trip is in order! I swear I spent the majority of our time living there in that glorious park.
