Snippets from Our Trip

Baby Girl and Duck

When we made our plans to take a trip to Utah, it was all done in the name of having a vacation. But as the trip approached, our reasons for being out there changed a bit. Obligations arose. And as that happened, the vacation-y aspect started going downhill fast. In the end, it was mostly work and little play. I had a work conference to attend. And Johnny had four interviews, one of which involved flying to Dallas mid-trip and another that involved Skyping with someone in LA.  And Baby Girl? Well, she mastered sitting up, met with some family for the first time, and learned to rip grass and dirt out of the ground with her chubby little fingers and stuff it in her mouth. Talk about hard work. Despite the work, we still managed a little bit of fun, too:

We’re excited for more of the same once we’re residents of Utah! We’ve made a pact to take advantage of the great outdoors once we get there. And now I should probably get back to packing. T-minus three days!

I especially liked that hiking picture. Like father, like daughter – talk about concentration, eh? 🙂

Baby Girl is so cute! I’m sure you plan to post on it post-move, but I would be really interested to hear how you keep your moving costs down. Are you hiring movers or driving a truck yourself?

I think Joanna’s covered some of our cost saving methods on this last move, but you might also be interested in this post: http://www.ourfreakingbudget.com/pros-and-cons-of-moving-yourself/. It covers all of our major expenses for our last three moves that we did ourselves. This last move was sort of an anomaly since it was paid for by my new employer.

She is so STINKIN’ CUTE!!!! I love the expression on her face in the duck picture. Priceless.
(P.S. those chunky legs are killin’ me! 🙂 )

I still can’t believe the size of her legs. I catch myself staring at them all the time and wondering how that little frame can include her tree trunks.

Even though it may not have been the vacation you had planned, it sounds like it worked out well for you. I would love to visit Utah and enjoy the nature. Maybe someday my wife and I will head out that way. Good luck with the move!

Very cute. I love the hiking picture. I’m glad you’re making a vow to really take advantage of the great outdoors! I hope you’ll share plenty of pictures with your geographically-challenged readers. On a related note, that’s most certainly a goose and not a duck.

Either ducks got a lot bigger and whiter, or that’s a goose.

Big changes all around! Good luck with the move and I am sure you will love Utah!

Duck, duck, goose. Yep, definitely a goose. And Baby Girl definitely isn’t too sure of them.

I love these pictures!! Utah is great, if you swing through Colorado let me know so that we can go hiking. I’m thinking about going to Sundance next year so I’ll keep you posted!

Definitely let us know. We’re just a 20 minute drive from Sundance resort and an hour or so from Park City. It’s always a fun week up here.
