Where OFB Calls Home

Wynn

Currently, our living room floor is littered with at least five tiny dirty diapers, Johnny is responding to dozens of emails, we’re weeks behind on responding to comments (sorry, guys!), and my brain is running at about 15% capacity. But all for a good, snuggly cause named Wynn! So today rather than even try to put words to sentences, I wanted to share a peek into our NYC apartment. I’ve been wanting to share some pictures for a while since NYC living is kind of a unique experience. And since everything around here has to do with a dollar sign, I’ve listed some sources/fun deals we’ve found on our stuff below each picture. Hope you enjoy!

Lovely photos Joanna! You and Johnny have a lovely home…love the girls’ room, very pretty! Hope life is settling into some sort of routine now that you’re home and in no time at all, you’ll have total ninja capabilities to juggle it all!

Thanks, Suzanne! After a week, my mom went home and Johnny went back to work, so I got to dive into life with two really quickly! That first week was kind of rough, but I feel like we’re finally starting to get the hang of things. If both girls are napping at the same time, I feel unstoppable! 🙂

Love the apartment and how homely you both have decorated it. I really love the kitchen and for a NYC apartment it seems really spacious. Congrats on the new baby and thanks for giving us a peek in your life.

That is a really lovely apartment. The pictures make your apartment look huge!

    • Reply Joanna May 9, 2015 at 9:31 pm

Thanks! Compared to our first NYC apartment a few years ago, it is huge! We feel fortunate that we’re not stepping all over each other, but I definitely won’t mind when we have a slightly bigger place again someday!

I love the tour through your apartment. I also love seeing all the great craigslist eals you’ve gotten. Glad to know I’m not the only one who has furnished my house through craigslist.

Thanks for sharing your place! It’s so nice and modern! Seems like a great NYC apartment. I look around my apt now and I see: Ikea coffee table $20, small dining set from my grandmother (free), two nice cherry wood glass topped end tables w matching cherry wood glass topped tv stand ($5 total-when my apt complex lobby upgraded to new furniture and I simply asked if I could have it all-they asked for $5-done!), nice light wood bedroom furniture–same furniture for 20 years…and in quite nice condition). Funny as most of my stuff is hand-me-down/free/etc. My couch and bed seem to be the only “newer” purchases in the place! 🙂

How cool! I love getting furniture for a great deal or for free… for some reason it makes me so much more proud of it haha, if that makes sense at all. Way to go on furnishing your place so cheaply. How awesome!

Precious apartment and love the kitchen. You must pay a fortune for the space. The baby is absolutely divine. Many blessings! M

Thanks, Maria! We really love our space, but the price was pretty hard to swallow at first (and still is, honestly!). Such is life in NYC!

I love your home and am amazed that you’re getting enough sleep to share some posts!

Love the apartment and decor, but that shot of Wynn is awesome! She’s so beautiful; I hope you and the family enjoy this special time together. Thanks for sharing the pics.

FYI, I am terribly jealous of your kitchen, particularly your gas stove. I don’t know what it is about Nebraskans, but no one cooks with gas! We recently discovered our rental house has a gas line to the stove location, but they installed an icky glass top stove instead.

I feel you! I love cooking with gas stoves, but the only place we’ve ever had them is NYC! Every apartment has gas stoves out here for some reason. So I’m enjoying it while I can. Who knows if I’ll ever have it again once we leave NYC!

I love the way you decorate! It looks like you both like IKEA – cute place!

    • Reply Joanna May 9, 2015 at 9:46 pm

Thanks, Terri! And yes! If it weren’t for IKEA, our house would be mostly empty!

Your family is just gorgeous! And your home is pretty neat too 😉 I enjoyed seeing your mix of old/new… well done. Looks lived and loved in!

Looks like we shop at the same places. 🙂 I hadn’t heard of Land of Nod but I love that rug. You have a very cute place, and beautiful kids too. Congratulations on all the changes the last year has brought. You and Johnny are my favorite bloggers – you balance being fun and cool with responsible quite well.

    • Reply Joanna May 9, 2015 at 9:54 pm

Thanks, Meghan! I think that’s the best compliment we could receive. Our biggest fear is becoming boring and responsible. So if at least one person out there thinks we’re not that, we’ll take it! 😉 Also, Land of Nod has the cutest stuff it kills me sometimes. Most of it is outrageously priced, but if you wait to snag a deal, it’s totally worth it.
