We’re simple folks. And it doesn’t take much to get us excited for a weekend. Was it the beautiful fall weather that had us counting down to last week’s end? Nope, but we did enjoy that. Was it the monthly family dinner with Johnny’s entire family? Neh, but that was pretty great, too. Rather, it was the series finale of Breaking Bad that had us on the edge of our seats. I know. We were addicts. I can say were because the show is now over. So, really, we’re survivors. It’s okay that it’s all over now (nooooo!) because we can finally move on with our lives (can’t) and find some other (un)healthy TV addiction.
However, Breaking Bad was only one hour of our otherwise two days of freedom from the daily grind. We had no plans for the weekend, so we hopped in the car and kept busy with fun, free activities (yes, fun and free can be synonymous). Well, we did spend money on half-off drink happy hour at Sonic for a Diet Coke with coconut and lime. Apparently it’s a Utah thing? And we’re addicted after just one 32 oz taste.
Here’s what we did for free around our parts:
Attended the Utah Giant Pumpkin Growers weigh off on Saturday. No pumpkin we carve this October will live up to our girl’s new pumpkin standards.
Reinforced Baby Girl’s newfound waving and high-fiving skills. And then expected her to perform on demand at the family dinner on Sunday.
Drove the Alpine Loop since Utah’s mountains are apparently already in their peak fall season. This was Johnny’s idea, but it was purely for my enjoyment. He gets me.
Oooh, and it’s the last day of the month! Tomorrow’s a new month, which means a new budget, and also 30 days to test whether I can keep from buying a ridiculously cute but expensive costume for our girl’s first Halloween. Here’s to that clean slate.
