Weekend Recap: Halloween

Weekend Recap

We hope everyone had a happy Haloween weekend! I mean, the weekend really started Thursday night since we were all in a candy coma on Friday, right? Johnny and I had fun with our girl. Thursday afternoon we went to Johnny’s office as planned. But that night Baby Girl was so tired that we never got around to trick-or-treating. Sure, blame it on the baby! Okay, Johnny and I were tired, too. Maybe next year. Our girl handled her costume pretty well, but we stayed away from mirrors :).

Saturday afternoon we took family pictures. Johnny can watch all the college football he wants if I can just have one fall Saturday each year for pictures. I took pictures of Johnny’s sister and her family, and she took pictures of us, so it didn’t cost a cent. I had a blast, and Johnny was a good sport.

Our only expenses this weekend were $11 for a Costco pizza, $9 for two college basketball tickets for Saturday night, and $2 for a strawberry shake (mostly for me!) after the basketball game. How was your weekend?

Darling photos! Your baby’s costume is super cute, too. I take photos for my neighbors and friends as well, and fall is definitely the best time of year to do it. I had a pretty frugal Halloween, too — $9.50 costume which I proudly sported at work (no one else dressed up) and more candy than I could dream to consume. I sent it to work with my husband after the weekend was over (candy coma indeed).

Agreed, Kendal! There’s something about taking photos in the fall that gets me every year. And way to go on dressing up at the office! Johnny and I always look back and wish we had on the years we opt out!

Good for you! I was budgeting well I thought on a 7.99 bag of 200 pieces for the local kids. My friend saw the size of the bag, took pity on me (!?) and bought a huge bag of top o’the line chocolates (think Hersheys)! THEN, we only got 29 kids at the door! What?? omg~ that only meant that the chocolate was in the house with ME the next day!!! Fortunately the teenage boy who lives here who calls me mama had 25 friends over the next night and I didn’t really have to fork over too much for food as they all ate the rest of the chocolate. Chalk one up for looking poor and then having extra 🙂 !

Oh dear! Thank goodness for teenage boys! Sounds like it ended up being a win-win, though! And I hope you were sure to eat a few of those chocolates for yourself :).

Your pictures are amazing. I really need to get some pictures of both Emmett and I, which is a little difficult as a single mama. Our Halloween was really frugal. Emmett’s costume was only $3.21! Then we ended up with 3 costumes total.

Thanks, Jennifer! And that is an outstanding deal on a costume! You definitely made the most of that $10 off coupon! And your baby looked adorable. Talk about a win-win!

The pictures look so great! And milkshakes are always worth $2.

Thanks, Emily! Agreed. I’ve got an insatiable sweet tooth, and milkshakes always seem to do the trick.

I’ve gotta know — how did you curl your hair? I keep trying to get mine to look like that but it’ll frizz or just not look as pulled together.

Of course, the picture are darling, and free is always good! Especially when an on-location photo shoot can run $100 or more around here.

Thanks, Julie! I was so happy to finally get some pictures with the three of us together!

I curled my hair with a curling wand (it was a Hot Tools wand I ordered from Amazon). It’s super easy to use, and my hair stays curled all day… I really love using it!
