Well, tomorrow’s the big day. The moving truck arrives. We say goodbye to all of our wordly possessions, and we’re off. Johnny’s driving our car across the country. And I’m getting on a plane with our baby girl and our cat. I’m insane. But it’s the only way. And if I’m not insane, there’s a 95% chance I will have become insane by the end of the flight. Pray they both sleep. And that they keep everything inside their diapers/cages for the six-hour trip.
Wish us luck! I feel like I’ve said that a lot lately, but starting tomorrow we’re really gonna need it.

Good luck and be safe! I really hope everything stays in their diapers/cages 🙂
Good luck! I’m not sure what would be more stressful- flying with a baby and cat or driving alone across the county. Probably flying. : ) Just kidding- I hope the move goes smoothly and you both love Salt Lake.
Joanna had it way worse than me. I’ve never felt worse in our marriage then saying goodbye to Joanna as she boarded the plane with Baby Girl in the front carrier and Persie in her carrier. Luckily it went as smooth as possible. After stressing about that ordeal, driving across the country felt like a breeze.
You can do it!!!! Good luck!
Best of luck!!!
I’m so excited for you! You may have mentioned it but did you already find an apartment?
After scouring craigslist and other apartment finder websites on a Friday afternoon, we were able to check out a few places on Saturday, fill out an application on the condo we liked, and sign the paperwork on Sunday. And it’s maybe a football field distance away from where I’ll be working. Score.
Good luck and safe travels on your big adventure! It’s an exciting new chapter in your lives and I can’t wait to hear more about it~
I hope everything goes without a hitch and you’re all smiling when you reach Utah!
wow! good luck! i’m sure its too late (or maybe not) or maybe you’ve already thought about this .. BUT, my sister (not an animal person) flew cross country with my cat once and the only saving grace was that we doped the cat up with antihistamine which meant it was super tame until the last thirty minutes of the plane ride when it started to wear off. I had luckily been to the vet previously and found out she had allergies and gotten these pills but there might be something over the counter or something your vet can prescribe last minute (or, like I said, you may have already thought of this and covered that base) but either way – GOOD LUCK!!! 🙂
We took her in a few days before the flight and the vet prescribed her Xanax. We gave it a test run a few days before and the effects were clearly visible within two hours. She was super wobbly and doped up. We had to watch her so she wouldn’t try jumping on things that she couldn’t reach. It worked like a charm for the flight though, which would have never happened had she not been on the meds.
What an exciting time for you and your family! Good luck with everything.
Safe travels, y’all! 🙂
You’re a brave woman! Safe travels to all!
Yes Joanna, as Holly has commented, you definitely are a brave woman – to ship your cat off in a diaper like that! 🙂 Good and safe trip to the three of you.
Good luck! You are some brave!
Good luck!! Baby girl will sleep the entire way 🙂
