Welp, it’s the first Monday of fall, everyone. Time to start playing Christmas music. I jest — and if you actually do that, shame on you. I’ve already spent an unmentionable amount of time poring over cardigans, sweaters, and other chilly-weather gear on my favorite clothing websites. And Johnny’s had to hear me say, “So when are we going to talk about our fall clothing budget?” at least half a dozen times. Lucky him! However, this past weekend didn’t require dressing warmly, and so we headed out of doors with Baby Girl.
Now that we live in a state that offers much in the way of outdoor activities, we’re trying to get our girl adjusted to spending time in a carrier for hiking. And so far, so good. We splurged on this carrier for our girl a few months ago, and paid for half of it with a gift card to lessen the blow. We did a short hike this weekend to a waterfall, and our girl was smiley the whole way, which meant Johnny and I were, too. Oh, and the best part? It was completely free!
As part of staying on budget through the end of the month, we had cheap, easy meals from home on Saturday and Sunday: a chicken salad one night and these fajitas another night (one of our favorites!). Oh, and Saturday night I painted my toes, and apparently chose a color that our girl finds downright cry-worthy. Johnny had to feed her dinner because she couldn’t bear to look over her highchair and see my toes down below. And so I wore socks for the remainder of the weekend.
And now on to a new week of working, budgeting, and painting my toes a lighter color. Happy Monday!

Great pictures! Looks like fun 🙂
Thanks, Michelle! It was a lot of fun!
So glad she enjoyed the hike! I just got the deal of a lifetime last week for the camel colored ergo baby carrier…$57.50 brand new on Amazon. I looked today and it’s $122.17! I still can’t believe it.
Whoa!! That is a crazy good deal, Halsy! Way to nab that carrier at the perfect moment — and I love the camel color!
Aww such cute photos!
Thanks! Our girl will have no shortage of baby pics to look at when she’s older, whether good or bad!
Sounds like an awesome weekend to me! Those waterfalls look awesome. You better enjoy the hikes while your little girl is still light enough to lug around. Once she gets to be a bit bigger I’m sure it will be tougher.
Oh for sure, Jake! She’s already over 20 pounds, though, so Johnny and I are used to carrying around a big girl! 🙂
I’m sure your toes are lovely! Sorry you faced such brutal, pint-sized criticism!
Haha, thanks! My toes are at the top of her dislike list, right next to our vacuum!
If your tootsies were painted bright red then perhaps the little one thought that mommy’s toes were bleeding. If that’s not the case then you better start painting some happy faces on them! 🙂
Haha, they were actually red before and she didn’t mind that one bit! She probably would like ten smiling faces looking up at her, but I’d be the one with the creeps! 😉
I find that fact that your toes freaked baby girl out really hilarious! Toes ARE weird. She is getting so big and that dimple is still there 🙂 The hike looks amazing.
