A New Year, A New Look

Isn’t the end of the year the best? So much hope and ambition and sitting around in pajamas watching Netflix all day. Bake all those ingredients up in our household and you get yourself a brand-spanking new Our Freaking Budget. Well, all the writing is the same. And we’re still the ones writing it — sorry.

So why the change? Just cause. We’d had the same design since the beginning and it just started feeling way too 2013. It was also a little difficult to navigate, so we’ll be focusing on making that better over the next little while. But that’s about it. Just a little botox here and there.

Here was Sally’s contribution during our design brainstorm:

Sally's Drawing

Love it or hate it, here’s our new look. But we hope you don’t hate it.

I like the new look, but can’t help think that you missed a trick not going with Sally’s advice…! 🙂

It was a tough call, but we thought her look was just a bit too edgy for our audience.

Looks like Sally is a budding Picasso there, folks! Making any New Years resolutions yet?

She’s going to make mommy and daddy lots of money. Our only resolution is to figure out how to expedite that process. 🙂

      Thanks, Alysia!

Love it! I love Sally’s, too. It would’ve been a big hit in the ‘under 24 months’ demographic. You guys have a big toddler readership, right?

Hah. Our toddler audience numbers are through the roof. They usually only click on posts I’ve written, though, so clearly I can channel that demographic well.

Congrats! I love your revamped website and it’s responsive! Are you also considering to make your email blast responsive? Today where smartphone penetration in the US alone has reached 65%, I think majority of your subscribers will likely view your e-blast on a wide variety of mobile devices i.e iPad, smart phones, tablets etc…
    Just a thought…

Email is a whole ‘nother beast that we’ll get to sometime in the near future.

The new look is great. Good job keeping things fresh!

“Fresh” is my middle name. I lied. It’s David. So basically the same thing.

We didn’t think there were enough photos of Sally on our site. 😉
