Quotes That Make Cents is a running series of quotes we find particularly money-motivational. This gem brought to you by the wise brain of Sigmund Freud.
As always, feel free to pin, share, or print and slap on the fridge next to the Scrabble scorecard your significant other proudly displays from that one time they beat you… which isn’t weird at all, right?
Another wave of sheer craziness in the OFB household. Pressing deadlines at our 9-5’s. A freaking 16-lb (!), 4-month-old ball of cuteness that takes naps, oh, never. Household chores that are piling up faster than our “dirty laundry corner.” None of it is actually worthy of complaining. Life is great. And this quote helped us remember that despite the growing pains of years past and today, we remember those memories more fondly than the ones we coasted through.
So for those of you in the heat of battle with the Debt Monster, or finding a job, or trying to solve that stupid tee puzzle at Cracker Barrel: chin up. Battle cheerfully. The now won’t necessarily suck less, but the tomorrow will make things worth it.

I’ll take 5 copies, although by publication date (2045) I probably will still have one bitchin headache from going through the required order process (ie., taking your face and slamming it against your palm). 🙂
Alright Rob, I’ve got you down for five. I’ll send you a tracking number in a few years.

That last line literally almost made me spew coffee all over my computer screen at work. Got my laugh in for the morning! Hilarious.
I apologize for the almost spewing. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
Haha, I love this quote. I remember struggling through college with no money and no gas. I thought at the time that if only I could get a better job things would be okay. I look back now and I have some of the greatest memories and strongest friendships from that “miserable” time.
Ain’t that the truth. I still look fondly on our Taco Tuesday nights when we would grab 10 tacos for like $3 because that’s all we could afford in our eating out budget. Actually, Joanna might not look back on that favorably, but man, those were the days.
haha!! Love the little blurb at the end. Made me LOL
For your face’s sake, I hope you didn’t pre-order any of my books. 🙂
Haha, I love the end, oh and the quote as well. It’s definitely important to remember that life is a journey, not a destination and to try and enjoy everything along the way.
Enjoy the journey. If I could just get that tattooed on my brain…
LOVE this! I also saved the “Quotes That Make Cents” about who is poor awhile back. Great perspective, especially for a finance blog.
Glad you’ve enjoyed these, Maria! We enjoy sharing what’s ringing true in our lives and hope that it resonates with others.
Since last fall, we’ve been doing so much better financially and I already look back at the time we spent living in a shack and arguing over money and I still smile : )
Crazy how that works, right? I know a time will come in the future when we look back at these first few months of late night crying Baby Girl and want nothing more than to travel back in time.
Great Quote, It seems like all the best quotes are copyrighted by dead people. I still feel like it is my duty to come up with a few quotes from time to time.
Outstanding post however , I was wanting to know if you could write
a litte more on this subject? I’d be very thankful if you could elaborate a little bit further.
Many thanks!
