Weekend Recap: Thanksgiving

Weekend Recap

Happy Cyber Monday! I’m hoping to get some major Christmas shopping done from the comfort of my living room. Yesterday afternoon, Johnny and I finished up what was left of our Thanksgiving leftovers. As you may recall, I’m not usually a fan of leftovers, but Thanksgiving is the exception. I could eat those for days — and did. We contemplated getting away this weekend for Johnny’s high school reunion, but in the end, Baby Girl won. I left the ultimate decision up to Johnny, and he decided that 10 hours in the car with our little one wouldn’t be worth it for just a weekend getaway. She’s a very opinionated little girl, and there’s a good chance that half the drive would have involved screaming, first from her, and then from us as we were quickly driven to insanity.

So we stayed in Utah and spent Thanksgiving with Johnny’s family. I contributed pumpkin pie and corn pudding, and we made it to the feast just 10 minutes late — which is pretty good for us. We spent the rest of the weekend hanging with family and getting our place decorated for Christmas.

    Looks like the perfect Thanksgiving!

Tea Collection was doing little girl dresses for $15 (usually somewhere between $35 and $45) so I snapped a few up for my girls and called it a day. 🙂

Ooh, awesome snag, Roo! Little girls can never have too many dresses! Our little one is growing out of all of hers, so I’ll be keeping an eye out for some cheap ones for her Christmas this year!

Happy to see that you guys enjoyed your Thanksgiving. Us Canuks celebrated our Thanksgiving last month (and, yes, stuffed ourselves silly – lol).

We also enjoyed our Black Friday sales, which actually started Thursday 7am at some stores. I scored pretty great at the nearest restail store of my employer, whom I recently retired from. Got there at 7am, got everything on our list (at great discounts) AND, on top of that, also got my employee discount. Not too shabby! 🙂

Many of our stores started early on Thursday, too! Craziness. Way to go on taking advantage of the great deals! Maybe one of these years Johnny and I will be ambitious enough to brave the crowds and score some awesome finds, too!

I have to say I am guilty of the Black Friday Shopping. I did stay within my budget though. You can check out what I scored on my post!! I would say if I had a little one, I would have to start skipping the madness for family time. Until then, I’ll enjoy it while I can!!

Wow, Mary! You weren’t kidding that you scored a ton of loot on Black Friday! And you stayed under budget, so well done! If Johnny and I try our hand at Black Friday shopping next year, we’ll know who to go to for advice! 🙂

Your Thanksgiving looks peaceful, family get togethers are normally loud and chaotic with my family. I normally go Black Friday shopping and was tempted to take Emmett in my carrier to Toys R Us for their killer diaper deal but decided I didn’t want to risk it. I’ll be doing some Christmas shopping this morning, it should be fairly peaceful.

Our girl was the only baby at Thanksgiving this year, which made things pretty low-key. I did some Christmas shopping today when our girl was sleeping! She’s at the age that if she’s awake, there’s no way I’m getting anything done :).

I think all of infancy is the age when if they are awake nothing is getting done, at least for us. If I am not wearing Emmett in our carrier nothing is getting done. Emmett was one of 8 kids at Thanksgiving.

Very cute pictures! Thanks for sharing about your weekend and glad your family had such a wonderful holiday. We certainly enjoyed ours and are now gearing up for Christmas!

Thanks, Laura! With Thanksgiving so late this year, Christmas will be here before we know it. I can’t believe we’re only three weeks away!

I can’t believe how big Baby Girl is getting!! Glad you got to spend time with family on Thanksgiving.

Thanks, Michelle! I can’t believe it either. She’ll be one in just a month!
