What a week! We had a whole lotta of new visitors (welcome pals!), thanks in large part to some awesome bloggers that linked to us (thanks a bajillion!). We also enjoyed some great discussions in the comments, especially hearing some of the responses to “You Couldn’t Pay Me $$$ to _____.”
We’re nearing on two months since we started Our Freaking Budget and we’ve been overwhelmed by your support and positive feedback. We’re really having a freaking fantastic time. So thanks!
If you’re so inclined, we’d love to take our relationship with you to the next level. Subscribe to our RSS feed, like us on Facebook, and follow us on Twitter. Also, if you’ve got any pressing questions, post ideas, or comments, we’d love to hear them via email at general@ourfreakingbudget.com.

SPLURGE OF THE WEEK
White Noise iPhone app – $1.99 – We hardly ever buy apps, but when we do, we make sure it’s life changing. And now that Baby Girl sleeps like a rock, this rule applies.
OUR FREAKING BABY’S VITALS
98%-tile Length, 75%-tile Weight, 69%-tile Head Circumference
FAVE POSTS
Here are some readings we enjoyed this week:
- Our fellow feline friends (alliteration!) at Planting Our Pennies talk about their kitty’s diet, and how we humans also have a hard time cutting back on consumption. Be reminded why consumption does not equal wealth.
- Go green in 2013! It has a nice ring to it, right? Newlyweds on a Budget have been on the green train for the last year. See their progress and learn how you can Kermit-ify yourself over here.
- Greg from Club Thrifty sees dead people. He also probably gets really tired of hearing that joke. You see, Greg’s a funeral director. And he blogs about all the morbid — and touching — details over on his guest post at Budgets are Sexy.
- And while our cat, Persie, has been relegated to second-class citizen status for the time being now that Baby Girl sits on our home’s throne, this story about a cat’s miraculous 200 mile journey home melted our feline-loving hearts.
Have a freaking swell weekend!

Enjoy your weekend as well guys. I’m going out now to do some freaking snow shoveling in the freaking cold (10 C), as well as some freaking grocery shopping ! 🙂
Correction – that’s actually 10 F out there, not Celsius. Still freaking cold !!! lol
Whoa! Johnny and I are lightweights when it comes to the cold… we’re complaining if it gets below 40 here! Aside from snow shoveling, hope you kept warm!!
What a big little baby! Though I gotta say, I’m convinced that baby growth charts are no longer valid. I’ve never heard of a baby that wasn’t in the upper half on all measurements… and statistically, half of them should be, right? =)
Thanks for the mention. Hope you guys are having a great weekend.
Agreed… Johnny and I are both kind of tall, but I don’t think our baby has Amazon woman potential! Let’s hope not anyway 🙂
Thanks for the shout out! And I love the updates on your baby girl
Thanks! She’s pretty much all we talk about as a couple anymore, haha. At some point I’m sure our lives will become less baby-centric, but for now, she’s IT!
[…] at Our Freaking Budget included our Kitty PoP insprired post on Wealth and Consumption in their Weekly Wrap Up. How they have time for all the top notch blogging with a tiny new person in their life is beyond […]
Sounds like your little sweetie is growing up just fine! Congrats on the great success on your blog: you deserve it. Always great and entertaining info here. 🙂
Thanks, Laurie! Writing on here keeps us feeling normal while the rest of our time revolves around Baby Girl!
I’m one of those new visitors and already love the blog! I can relate to so many of your posts — deciding when to buy a house, taking the leap into joint banking, getting expensive haircuts (ha)…. My husband and I have designated 2013 as the Year of the Budget, so I’m looking forward to reading more.
And congrats on the new baby. She’s precious!
Thanks, Elle! Welcome! The Year of the Budget sounds like a great name for 2013! We should probably designate this year as The Year Our Budget Meets Baby Girl (and still survives, hopefully!). 😉
The White Noise App is a LIFESAVER!!! It is awesome for on-the-go: car rides, restuarants, shopping, you name it. People sometimes looked at me like I was crazy, but they weren’t laughing when my baby was sleeping and they were pacing all over the place trying to sooth their baby!
